Taking place over the Spring Bank Holiday of the 2021 season (Friday 28th to Monday 31st May), Bowls’ Big Weekend was a national initiative offering clubs the opportunity to promote our welcoming and socially-distanced sport and attract new members. 20% of new bowlers join the sport on the back of open weekends, and clubs want support to help recruit new players and that there are plenty of people out there who would love to have a go at bowls.
Bowls’ Big Weekend was open to clubs affiliated to Bowls England and British Crown Green Bowling Association, and was run alongside the Bowls Development Alliance and Disability Bowls England. It took place over the four-day period allowing clubs to organise activity that best fits within their club’s calendar and complies with Return to Play guidance.
The Bowls clubs of Daventry took part and the Disability Bowls Mark was presented to Daventry Bowls Club.
